UC Browser removed from the play store
UC Browser is the largest browser in India by usage, now disappeared from the Google Play Store. The browser is still functional, just after the week when the app crossed 500 million downloads on play store the news of its removal has been arrived.
Those who unfamiliar with UC Browser, It is a popular developed by UCWeb in 2004, which is owned by China’s Alibaba Groups. This browser is hugely popular alternative to Google Chrome. The browser is most popular browser in India, it almost covered over 50% market shares. UCWeb claims that Indian users make up 100 millions total active users. Now the browser download from it’s official website UCWeb but not from Google Play Store. UC Browser mini still available on play store.
At the end of 2017 Google’s Chrome browser was at around 35% of market shares and UC browser around 45% of market shares.
It was concerns that in India that UC was sending data to China, which is against Indian rules. It’s not clear on what grounds, if at all, the government of India could have banned it, However, if we checked on the Play Store using a VPN(Virtual private Network), and the browser seems to have disappeared from the store at a global level not just for India.
Now the UC Browser available on UCWeb or it’s Mini version still available on Playstore.
